He was born at Porbandar in Gujarat in 1869. His earlier name was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. He went to England for his higher education. He worked as a barrister in South Africa. When he returned to India. He took an active part in the freedom struggle. He lived a very simple life. He believed in truth and nonviolence.
His birthday falls on 2nd October which is celebrated as 'Gandhi Jayanti'. He was shot died on 13th January 1948. We call him 'Bapu'(the father of the nation).

2 The accident I have seen
Accident have become frequent. There is too much traffic on the roads. The situation in our city is worst. There are all types of vehicles. Some are very slow-moving. Other move very fast.
One day, I was waiting for my school bus. I was there at the bus-stop. It was morning time. A bus driver was carrying office goers to their offices. It was fully packed.
He was driving the bus at a great Speed. The bus reached at a crossing. It turned sharply to the from the corner. The driver lost control of the bus. It immediately hit the pavement with a loud bang. A man and a girl were on the pavement. They were waiting for a bus at the stop. The bus dashed against the footpath and then hit them. They both fell down unconscious. They were rushed to the hospital.

Good citizens make a good Nation. They can make their country great. Bad citizens are a curse for any country. They make a nation weak and poor. Our country needs many more ideal citizen.
An ideal citizens knows his duties well. He also knows about his rights. But he always gives importance to his duties. He is well educated. He is ready to make any sacrifice for the country. He lives in peace and harmony with others.
An ideal citizen is a patriot. For him his nation is above everything else. He is healthy and strong. He pays his taxes regularly. He takes an active part in National activities.

4. A railway journey
He is very disciplined. He follows the rules and regulations. He helps the authorities in keeping law and order. As soon as the train stopped, I went in the the occupied a corner seat.
The train started at 6 a.m. It was a Maill train. So it did not stop to each station. The journey was comfortable. The morning scene was pleasant. The farmers were working in the fields. When the train reached Varanasi, some of the passengers got down and some new ones came in.
After 30 minutes, the train reached Mughalsarai. When the train stopped, I got down and came out of the station.

6. The Taj Mahal/visit to a historical place
The Taj Mahal
This year on 17th August I went to Agra with my friends Raju and Rajesh. We went to Agra to see the Taj Mahal by bus. There we passed the night in a big hotel.
When we reached the Taj Mahal, our guide told us that the Taj Mahal was built by the Mughal emperor Shahjehan in the memory of his queen Mumtaz Mahal. It took about 20 years to complete.
It is made of white marble. So it looks very attractive. Our guide told us that due to it, Agra is known as the city of the Taj.
I saw it again and again from different sides. I saw it also in the moonlight. In my opinion it is the most beautiful building in the world. It is the glory of the Mughal period. Our country is proud of it.
6. ताजमहल / किसी ऐतिहासिक स्थान की यात्रा
ताज महल
इस साल 17 अगस्त को मैं अपने दोस्तों राजू और राजेश के साथ आगरा गया। हम बस से ताजमहल देखने के लिए आगरा गए। वहाँ हमने एक बड़े होटल में रात गुजारी।
जब हम ताजमहल पहुँचे, तो हमारे गाइड ने हमें बताया कि ताजमहल को मुग़ल बादशाह शाहजहाँ ने अपनी रानी मुमताज़ महल की याद में बनवाया था। इसे पूरा होने में लगभग 20 साल लगे।
यह सफेद संगमरमर से बना है। इसलिए यह बहुत आकर्षक लगता है। हमारे गाइड ने हमें बताया कि इसके कारण, आगरा को ताज के शहर के रूप में जाना जाता है।
मैंने इसे अलग-अलग पक्षों से बार-बार देखा। मैंने इसे चांदनी में भी देखा। मेरी राय में यह दुनिया की सबसे खूबसूरत इमारत है। यह मुगल काल की शान है। हमारे देश को इस पर गर्व है।
7. My first day at school
Yesterday was my first day at school. I went to school with my father. I saw many boys there with their guardians. Many old students were also there.
The building of the school was Grand. There were about 30 rooms in it. The principal's office was the centre of attraction. The principal was busy in his office. In the library, a large number of boys were present. Some of them were reading newspapers and some where talking with their friends.
After admission, I went to my classroom. My class teacher Mr. Sharma was talking to the students. When I entered the classroom, I said, "good morning, sir." Mr Sharma was pleased,p and he he asked me to come in and sit. After few minutes, the last bell rang and the school was over.
I like the school and its discipline very much. I made some new friends. They were very smart and well behaved.
7. स्कूल में मेरा पहला दिन
कल स्कूल में मेरा पहला दिन था। मैं अपने पिता के साथ स्कूल गई थी। मैंने वहां कई लड़कों को उनके अभिभावकों के साथ देखा। कई पुराने छात्र भी थे।
स्कूल का भवन भव्य था। इसमें लगभग 30 कमरे थे। प्राचार्य का कार्यालय आकर्षण का केंद्र था। प्राचार्य अपने कार्यालय में व्यस्त थे। लाइब्रेरी में, बड़ी संख्या में लड़के मौजूद थे। उनमें से कुछ अखबार पढ़ रहे थे और कुछ अपने दोस्तों के साथ बात कर रहे थे।

8. A journey to the Ganga
One day I invited my friend Mohan, Ram and Mukul to enjoy a picnic on the banks of the Ganga. They were very glad at the invitation. They promised me to join the picnic party at 4 p.m. when they came, we hired a small boat for two hours. Ram brought his stove and a packet of tea. Mukul had a flute. I had some milk, biscuits and sweets. When the boat began to sail, Mukul prepare tea. So we had our tea with biscuits and sweets.
Many people were bathing at the ghats. Some others were praying to God. The water of the Ganga was clear. The rays of the the setting sun were making it golden. The scene was very charming. Mukul began to play on his flute. He played on the flute beautifully.
The boat was sailing on the Ganga and we were enjoying the evening scene and at last we returned home happily.
8. गंगा की यात्रा
एक दिन मैंने अपने दोस्त मोहन, राम और मुकुल को गंगा के किनारे पिकनिक का आनंद लेने के लिए आमंत्रित किया। वे निमंत्रण पर बहुत खुश थे। उन्होंने मुझे शाम 4 बजे पिकनिक पार्टी में शामिल होने का वादा किया। जब वे आए, तो हमने दो घंटे के लिए एक छोटी नाव किराए पर ली। राम अपना चूल्हा और चाय का पैकेट लेकर आए। मुकुल के पास एक बांसुरी थी। मेरे पास कुछ दूध, बिस्कुट और मिठाइयाँ थीं। जब नाव रवाना होने लगी तो मुकुल ने चाय तैयार की। इसलिए हमने अपनी चाय बिस्कुट और मिठाइयों के साथ खाई।
कई लोग घाटों पर स्नान कर रहे थे। कुछ अन्य लोग ईश्वर से प्रार्थना कर रहे थे। गंगा का पानी साफ था। अस्त होते सूर्य की किरणें इसे सुनहरा बना रही थीं। दृश्य बहुत ही मनमोहक था। मुकुल ने अपनी बांसुरी बजाना शुरू किया। उन्होंने बांसुरी पर खूबसूरती से अभिनय किया।
नाव गंगा पर नौकायन कर रही थी और हम शाम के दृश्य का आनंद ले रहे थे और आखिर में हम खुशी-खुशी घर लौटे।
